"I jus' — I thought y'said he was eager t'talk t'me."

There's a well of sadness in her deep blue eyes, but she looks away and shakes her head. She's almost approached half a dozen times, but every time she looks he's off doing something else. And he's certainly not giving off the warm and friendly vibes Tommy had her thinking he might.

"But, I guess, perhaps — I mean, it is a party. An' he's certainly ... partyin'."

She gestures to the pole.

"I guess it jus' ain't the right time. Still, I feel a li'l — unsettled. I've been waitin' t'talk t'him for a long time now. An' seein' Sam has jus' got my hairs on end, y'know? Drinkin' hasn't helped much."
