holiday party post

Aphrodite's New York loft is done up to the nines.

The first good look as one enters is of twinkling Manhattan through the big windows, lights bright against a dark winter sky. The windows take up most of two walls; the rest of the space is largely empty, the star of the show a glowingly polished hardwood floor perfect for dancing.

There's a cluster of low-slung couches and chairs at one end of the room, velvet and leather and very inviting. They're situated by the fireplace, which lends them a cozy glow-- though it isn't cold anywhere in here, despite the windows.

Aphrodite is very proud of a few things about tonight:

1) The music, which spans a decent range of time periods and tempos, and will be playing for most of the evening.
2) The decorations, understated but quite lovely: softly glowing lights, silver and gold ribbons wound around columns and draped from the ceiling ... the occasional strategically placed bit of mistletoe.
3) Her dress.

And yes, darlings, there is a very well stocked bar and counter full of snacks.

That's what happens when you enlist the Three Graces to help you plan your shindigs.

Palamedes comes in wearing his newest court dress and clutching a bottle of scented oils as an offering. The new leathers are a little stiff though the fresh scent of dye is barely noticeable.

He's still not quite sure why he is here.

Her dress is something, but fortunately for him he is somewhat familiar with dryads and their lack of clothing. Her measure of him brings a smile and a flutter of longer for Iseult which he does his best to weather.

"I thank you Lady," he says finally and offers a bow before holding forth the bottle fo scented oil. "I bring an offering, and while I have not spoken with my Lord Tammuz, I am confident he would have sent greetings as well."

A shadow of sadness crosses his eyes, but he answers with a smile. "Once perhaps, but it has been sometime for me."

And his heart breaks for causing Her apparent grief or upset.

"No the apology is mine. I did lay claim to that title, but Arthur fell some twenty or more winters ago for me," Palamedes says, though his apparent age casts doubt to this claim. "When I received your missive I did not know whence it came thus I claimed all the titles I might in order to learn the source of the honor. If there is any fault in this, I must claim it solely."
