holiday party post

Aphrodite's New York loft is done up to the nines.

The first good look as one enters is of twinkling Manhattan through the big windows, lights bright against a dark winter sky. The windows take up most of two walls; the rest of the space is largely empty, the star of the show a glowingly polished hardwood floor perfect for dancing.

There's a cluster of low-slung couches and chairs at one end of the room, velvet and leather and very inviting. They're situated by the fireplace, which lends them a cozy glow-- though it isn't cold anywhere in here, despite the windows.

Aphrodite is very proud of a few things about tonight:

1) The music, which spans a decent range of time periods and tempos, and will be playing for most of the evening.
2) The decorations, understated but quite lovely: softly glowing lights, silver and gold ribbons wound around columns and draped from the ceiling ... the occasional strategically placed bit of mistletoe.
3) Her dress.

And yes, darlings, there is a very well stocked bar and counter full of snacks.

That's what happens when you enlist the Three Graces to help you plan your shindigs.

Food is easy company, the likes of which Burton Guster is very familiar with. A few pieces of fruit add color to small appetizer plate he's put together, but the majority of it is chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate.

And a nice chocolate martini to go with.

There'll be time for other delicacies later, if his track record holds true, for now it's time to drown the fact that he's propped against the counter at a party watching strangers in brownies and pineapple.

A sandy haired man in a tuxedo walks past, with a nod and a smile as a greeting.

A second later that same sandy haired man in a tuxedo backs up and comes to stop in front of Gus.

"Excuse me, hi. I was just can't help but notice you have a lot of chocolate there. On your plate. Things like brownies and the like. You uh, didn't happen to already ingest any of the smallish cut ones on the plate with the Rated R warning, did you?"

Gus appreciates a nice tuxedo, and returns the nod with an easy grin - not entirely expecting him to back it on up.

He looks down at the plate, seeing a small brownie he'd already taken a big bite of in addition to the one before it he'd already eaten...

"Uh... no?" he raises an uncertain eyebrow. There may have been a label of some sort that he'd sort of not bothered to read because - dude, brownies.

"Maybe... did they belong to someone? I swear they were open when I got there."

"Oh no no no, they're totally for public consumption. I swear, you're good. It's just...well, they're spiked, for lack of a better term. Magic, if you will."

His eyes go wide, magic... is not good.

"What kind of magic are we talking about here? Like turn me into a puppy magic or things are about to get very, very bad magic?"
mnt_mike: (Hyeeeees)
